Bordeaux Merignac Airport (BOD)
Serving a large selection of both national and international destinations, Bordeaux Airport (BOD) stands right next to the suburb of Mérignac and alongside Le Haillan, Passac and Saint-Aubin. The airport sees a multitude of tourists coming into the Bordeaux Merignac area, as well as people on business and those simply making on-going connections.
Bordeaux Airport is also an important hub for all of the Air France Iberian connections and is situated just 12 km / 7 miles to the west of Bordeaux. The facility handles a throughput of around four million yearly passengers and contains one terminal with two sections, Hall A and Hall B, which are connected by a covered walkway. Hall A serves international flights, while Hall B handles domestic flights.
There are several ground transportation options from Bordeaux Airport to the neighbouring Bordeaux-Merignac area and the Gare St. Jean rail station. Taxis and a JetBus shuttle service are offered for your convenience. Visitors can also hire a car from the car rental agency located right outside of the terminal building, with the A630 ring road encircling the city of Bordeaux.
About Bordeaux Tourism
Bordeaux is famous for its wine and thousands of tourists flock here, not only to get a sampling of the special vintages, but also to enjoy the charm of the city. Following the turn of the new millennium, Bordeaux has undergone quite a transformation, with many of its most important buildings being restored, and wide boulevards converted into pedestrianised areas.
Located in south-west France and in the Aquitaine province, the region's capital city has a rich history that is immediately evident to those arriving at Bordeaux Airport (BOD), with a myriad of interesting historical attractions, such as castles and museums. There is also much culture to enjoy in the form of art galleries and music venues.
